The Work

The Software Developer is a problem solver at its heart. Taking client requests, figuring out what needs to change in the code, implementing that change and building tests to ensure reliability. You’ll use Python or PHP, interact with datastores, web servers, and maybe even write some frontend code. Build APIs, consume APIs. Learn software architecture.

Responsibilities

• While writing PHP and/or Python code for clients:

• Able to acquire understanding and absorb information rapidly. Understand core and advanced concepts of programming and know how to apply them.

• Can identify what to change in a project to fix an issue or add a feature.

• Understands the big picture of what the client wants and uses that to inform your programming.

• Follows project coding standards, works to meet deadlines

• Actively listens for what the client needs, listens to peers and supervisors

• Makes the customer feel at ease and asks intelligent questions about customer requirements - occasional client interaction

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in software development
• Additional two years full time Python or PHP development

Preferred Qualifications

• Test Driven Development
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Work experience with remote teams
